Have a "Green" Halloween

This Thursday instead of doing a review, I am doing a post on having a green halloween. Mainly because I have no products to review. At least for now.

Costumes

Instead of buying a brand new costume, try some of these tips.
  • buy your costume from a secondhand store
  • rent a costume
  • create a costume from the clothes you already own
Bag your Candy

Instead of carrying a bunch of plastic bags
  • carry a reusable bag ( Saturdays post will hopefully be on how to make one.)
  • carry a basket
Sweet Tooth

Were it comes to "greening" your candy the easiest way to do that is to buy orangic candy. It is much healther for you and the planet and it taste just as great.

Decor

If you decorate your house on halloween, this year try and
  • rent your decorations
  • use the ones from last year
  • use decoration made from recycled products
  • buy biodegradable decorations
Litter

The easier way I think you can green your halloween is buy throwing your garbage in the right areas.

Halloween Parties

  • make invitations out of recycled products or send e-invites
  • pick up all the litter on the ground
  • turn down the lights
  • use recycled or biodegradable paper plates
  • have a reycling bin
  • Have a Good Time!

Tip Tuesday: Buy Natural or Eco-Friendly Beauty Products

Buy Natural or Eco-Friendly Beauty Products:
Next time you go shopping for hair products, makeup and other beauty products try to buy natural items. Like physicians formula bamboo wear. The compact is reusable and the powder is made from 90% natural products.

Does Recycling Actually Work?

This Monday I am going talk about recycling. This summer for my media arts class we had to write an article about anything we wanted to. I decided to write about if recycling actually works, so here is the article.

Across the world millions of people have started to recycle to better the health of our planet. How many have contained living their lives without recycling. They think that recycling isn’t worth it for many reasons the first and most important reason would have to be, does it actually work?

On June 30, 1996 a columnist named John Tierney published an article called “Recycling is Garbage” in The New York Times. It caused a divide between people wondering if recycling was really worth it.

In the article he stated that “mandatory recycling programs offer mainly short term benefits to a few groups, politicians, public relations, consultants, environmental organizations and waste handling corporations while diverting money from genuine social and environmental problems. Recycling may be the most wasteful activity in modern America.”

It Basically means that he thinks that recycling is a waste of money because it takes a lot more money and double the energy to recycle, recyclables. It would mean that taxpayers would have to pay more money to get this done than to dispose regular garbage.

Even though this is true we should still recycle. It helps the planet and everyone in it. There are also the other two R’s Reuse, and Reduce. We should consider these two options before recycling because they can lower our garbage and recycling piles so no one will have to worry about paying more taxes or hurting the planet.

Challenge Sundays- recycle

Last week my challenge to pack a litter less didn't go so well. So this week I am going to choose an easier challenge. For the rest of the week I have to recycle whatever I can. It may seem to easy but sometime you can get lazy or forget to recycle, especially when you live in an apartment.

Review Thursdays on a Saturday

Today I am finally going to post my review thursday. This week I am going to be reviewing the Jenere Natural lip blam in peppermint.

I came across this product accidently in dollarama. I had fixed my lip blam the other day and was in desperate need of a new one for my super dry lips. I very wasn't in the mood to go surfing through the aisles of shoppers drug mart so I went to dollarama. I was reaching for my mom's favourite dollarstore lip blam, when I saw the Jenere Natural Lip Blam in Peppermint. As a Picked it up I knew I was going to like this product. The reason why was because it was two for a dollar, the second thing was it was peppermint which is my favourite flavour in lip blam and third it is 99.9% natural!

From that day on it is my favourite lip blam ever. It is so mositurizing and it is good for your lips and the environment.

p.s it is only a dollar.

Global Warming- True or False

There is a lot of controversy when it comes to global warming being true of false. You can have whatever opinion you want but here is mine. Personally I don't it matters if it is true or false. We should be taking care of planet if it is getting worse or it is fine. We shouldn't be throwing trash on the floor or wasting our valuable resources.

This weeks challenge is very simple but has a big impact. For the whole week all you have to do is pack a litterless lunch. Buy doing this you are reducing carbon emissions and saving money. This also has an impact on you because bringing your lunch from home is much healther then buying a big mac with large fries and a coke. If you are participating in this challenge comment down below litterless and next sunday refer back to this challenge and tell us how it went.
