Earth Song by Michael Jackson

I recently watched this video in class, and it made me really think about the way we treat the earth.  It also reminded why I created this blog Which was to inspire others to treat the earth with respect.  The fact of the matter is, soon the earth will no longer be able to sustain us because we use up resources faster than we can replace them.  Hopefully this video will also inspire you, the same way it inspirited me.

Back in School: The Power of PowerPoint

When it comes to class presentations you can always present your project the old school way, by using ... Bristol board. However you can also try a newer, more eco-friendly presentation method.

PowerPoint by Microsoft, is an easy program that helps you prepare presentations. The best part is it doesn't involve paper! All you have do is save your project on a USB and hook it up to a computer and projector at school. (Firstly make sure you ask your teacher if you can do a PowerPoint presentation. Just in case she needs to bring in or book the equipment.)

To learn about how to create a PowerPoint presentation check out this link.

Tip Tuesday: Use Cold Water

Use Cold Water: Since cold water uses less energy to generate than hot water, it is the more eco-friendly choice. Wash your clothes, and dishes in cold water, as well as your hair. By washing your hair in cold water not only does it help the environment but it gives you shinier and healthier hair by sealing the hair follicle to help prevent split ends.

Back in School: Ways to Save Paper

After spending a good couple of hours cleaning my room, I realized how much paper we use in school. Not only do we use paper for taking notebooks, but we also have to use it my assignments, homework and passing note! Unfortunately by the end of the year most of this papers end up in the trash. Thankfully there are easier ways to reduce the amount of paper we use in school without sacrificing are education.

  1. Write on both sides of the paper.
  2. Buy recycled paper and notebooks.
  3. Reuse old paper.
  4. E-mail your assignments to your professor when ever possible.
  5. Take notebooks on your laptop. (don't forget to back it up or put it on your USB just in case something happens to your computer.)
  6. Write smaller
  7. Only write what is important. (listen 80% of the time take notes 20% of the time)
  8. Use every page in your notebook (including the last page!!!)

Back in School: Have a Waste-Free Lunch

Most school lunches consist of a sandwich, with some cookies and other snacks thrown into a Ziploc bag, and than packed into a paper bag, because of this school lunches can produce a large amount of waste and cause a large amount of pollution. To make it easier, buy a couple lunch containers that can be simply reused.

If you are looking for some cute lunch containers, The Container Store would be a good place to start.
They have a wide variety of lunch bags, food containers, and reusable water bottles at reasonable prices. They even have a Cereal-on-the-Go container if your interested.

Roxy is the perfect place to find lunch bags with cute graphic designs. Their lunch bags can be found almost everywhere including  their website.
