Sugaring Hair Removal

Now that summer is here a lot of us will be starting our hair removal routines. So before you pick up your shavers, and depilatory creams consider sugaring.

Sugaring is an ancient technique used to remove hair. It is similar to the way a wax is used, however it is more natural and cost friendly.

How to Make Sugaring Paste
You will need

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup of water
Directions

To double check if your wax is done
  1. Take a small amount of it on a spoon
  2. Run the spoon with the sugar wax on it under cold water (that way it is cool enough to touch)
  3. Take the paste of the spoon and play with it. If it is done it should be stretchy
Now that your sugar wax is done pour it into a container (for storage) and allow it to cool

How to store and reuse your wax

Keep your wax in a container with a lid and keep it at room temperature. If you want to reuse it just pop it  into the microwave and heat it for a couple of seconds. (I heat mine for 15 seconds) Than wait for it to cool down until you can touch it without burning yourself.

My Experience with Sugaring

I honestly love sugaring. It is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. However at first I kept burning myself and getting the sugar stuck everyone. However practice does make perfect and after a couple of tries I  finally started getting use to it. I also find sugaring a lot less painful than waxing but it does depend on your tolerance for pain. Sugaring is also very messy so beware.

Pros:

  • cheap
  • less painful than waxing
  • sticks to your hair not your skin
Cons:

  • messy
  • difficult to use at first

  1. Thanks for sharing this nice topic! I’ve been wanting to try this for a while. I sure could go for shaving less often!

  2. @depilação
thanks for commenting and I totally agree that when you shave you have to do it more often.
