Have Green Chirstmas Party




Chirstmas is a time when people love to celebrate and throwing a huge, fun party is just one of the many ways people love to celebrate Chirstmas. If you are one of the million people who are throwing a Chirstmas party or any party for that matter this year keep reading to find out easy tips to help the planet while partying.


1. Use Recycled Decorations

You do not have to literly use decorations made of recycled matarials, you can use decorations that you have used in past years, and if you don't have any you can ask a friends or family member if you can borrow some.


2. Lighting

Try using eco-friendly light bulbs or turn down the lights you can even turn off the lights completely and use lamps with eco-friendly bulbs.



3. Real v.s Plastic

When choose a christmas tree your only have two options a real tree or a plastic one. Not one of them is better or worse then the other, there are pros and cons for each and here they are.

Real
Pros:
  • not plastic (which can hate the environment if not disposed propertly)
  • real tree look
  • biodegradeable
  • good smell
  • afterward can use wood for fireplaces
  • can buy or rent a real tree that is planted after the holidays
Cons:
  • does not last long
  • can be harder to put up
  • may contain pesticides
  • shed needles that you have to clean up
  • have to figure out where to recycle it and not all community have recycling programs for these trees
Plastic
Pros:
  • last longer
  • you have a variety of different colours
  • can do more decoration styles
  • less expensive in some cases
  • can be put up earlier
  • good for apartment buildings
Cons:
  • Made from plastic
  • may not look real
  • oftern shipped long distances (China)
  • Need to find a place to store

4. Have Orangic Foods

Try to make meals from orangic foods and don't forget to have some vegetarian and vegan options for your guest.

Instead of using tons of paper on intives you E-Cards or you recycled paper to make your invitations

Vegetarian Christmas Menu

Being a vegetarian can be hard on around the holidays, so if you are coming up with a menu for christmas dinner how a couple of suggests for vegetarian meals.

Appertizers

Pumkin Soup:
Pumkins are not just for Thanksgiving, try making some for the holidays. Actually any kind of soup would work as long as it does not have meat but personally I think pumkin soap is very festive.

Greek Salad:
Salad is great because it is probably the easiest thing to make that is vegetarian. My favourite kind of salad at the moment is greek salad.


Main Dish:




Sweet baked Potatoes and Grilled Veggies:
Really good and easy to make you can also use regular potatoes.

Veggie Lasagna:
another easy and good meal. You can really put any kind of vegetables but I would highy recommend spinach.


Dessert:
Dessert is really easy because almost all deserts do not contain meat.

Green up your Chirstmas shopping

Chirstmas is coming up meaning a lot of people are going to do some christmas shopping. If you are looking to life a green life here are some easy tips to green up your christmas shopping or any kind of shopping for that matter.

Use a reuable bagA reuable bag is a great tool to use for shopping. It cuts down on plastic and you can get so many cute and unique styles and designs.

Walk

Walk, bike or take public transit to cut down on carbon emissions, and a plus is if you walk or bike you get a great workout.

Do all your shopping at once.
Another way to eat down on carbon emissions if you have to take your car to do christmas shopping is to buy all your gifts at once at the same place. This way you do not have to do separate trips to different places increasing the amount carbon in the air.
